Australia’s national heart health awareness week is held in the first week of May, each year. By shining a light on heart health, Heart Week is an opportunity for all of us to talk about heart health, and take steps to reduce our risk of heart disease.


In Australia, one person has a heart attack or stroke every four minutes. The good news is, there are many actions you can take to improve your heart health, and lower your risk of heart attack or stroke. This Heart Week, why not try these four simple tips:


Move your body

Just 30 mins of activity a day will do wonders for your heart health. Join a walking group or sign up to a personal walking plan to help you achieve your daily exercise dose.


Discover heart-healthy recipes

From stir-fries to strawberry muffins, our website provides plenty of inspiration for heart-healthy meals and snacks.


Get a Heart Health Check

People over 45, or over 30 if you’re Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander, may be eligible for a Medicaresubsidised Heart Health Check. Call your GP and book your Heart Health Check today.
