Heart Week is Australia’s national heart health awareness campaign held in the first week of May each year. It provides an opportunity for health professionals and the Australian public to start a conversation about heart health and take positive steps to reduce heart disease risk.
For this year’s Heart Week, we are encouraging Australians to do three simple things to look after their heart – check their blood pressure, use the Heart Age Calculator to understand their risk of heart disease, and book a Heart Health Check with their GP.
Download resources to engage your community about their heart health, particularly about the importance of having a Heart Health Check and understanding key risk factors for CVD such as high blood pressure.

Use a suite of posters, brochures and animations to set up an informative heart health display and start conversations about heart health.
Get creative in how you promote Heart Week and display the resources for a chance to win one of two $500 gift vouchers (T&Cs apply). The competition closes at 5 pm AEST on 12 May 2023.
Streamline your CVD prevention efforts by joining the 100,000+ health professionals across Australia who have used the Heart Health Check Toolkit.
With practical resources and software-integrated templates, the Toolkit not only helps you identify, assess and manage CVD risk, but also engage and recall eligible patients with ease.
By simplifying the planning, recall and implementation of Heart Health Checks, the Toolkit enables more at-risk patients to be identified and treated, ultimately contributing to better CV outcomes for your patients.
“Having the resources there for patient education and the templates that we could integrate with Best Practice software was all easy to use. […] and with the brochures and the posters, there were so many resources in the Heart Health Check Toolkit that it was just a one stop shop to use to our benefit.”
Close to 600 health professionals tuned in for our special Heart Week webinar, Risky business: Understanding and managing residual CVD risk, on Wednesday 3 May 7–8 pm AEST.
A stellar panel of international and Australian speakers discussed the latest evidence on residual risk, including the role of novel biomarkers such as Lp(a) in clinical practice and how polygenic risk can enhance current risk screening. Presentations were followed by a case study discussion and practical tools to optimise CVD risk management.
Our webinar series for health professionals is available for viewing on demand. Don’t miss the opportunity to catch up on quality clinical discussions presented live by leading experts.

Scheduled for release mid-year, the 2023 Guideline for assessing and managing CVD risk will be the first major update in over a decade.
The new Guideline will provide the latest evidence-based recommendations and introduce a new risk equation tailored for use in Australia. This new risk calculator takes into account ethnicity and social deprivation, and is highly applicable in the Australian primary care setting.
The Guideline and calculator are set to become the new standard for evaluating and managing CVD risk in Australia. Don't miss out on being the first to learn about its release.
